Chains Set for Final Millennial Judgment
John writes from a rocky penal colony on the island of Patmos. He records a vision of a heavy iron chain and a deep shaft. An angel binds the ancient serpent to lock him away for one thousand years. This text circulated along coastal trade routes in the late first century a.d.
The island of Patmos sits roughly 35 miles off the western coast of Asia Minor. Ships carried these prophetic writings to seven major cities connected by Roman paving stones. The narrative shifts abruptly from terrestrial battles to a vast spiritual courtroom. Here the Almighty sits on a great white throne to judge the dead.
Heavy record books open before the throne to measure every human deed. The sea itself releases the bodies trapped within its deep salt waters. A lake of burning sulfur consumes the physical manifestations of death and the grave. This event marks the total eradication of the old physical world order.
I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened.
The former heavens and earth flee from the presence of the throne. No physical landmass or ocean remains to hide those facing final judgment. The destruction of the old domain clears the foundation for a new creation.
